The Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was developed about 40 years ago and ever since this method has been successfully used in several different industries. FTA becomes more and more a key analysis method to meet legal requirements, norms, regulations, directives and customer's requests. Especially the trend to "calculate things" to get key figures for comparing variants and to get indications for an optimization process to finally fulfill quantitative requests (like in DIN EN 61508; DIN EN 61511; ISO 26262, EN ISO 13849-1; SIL Level, ASIL) is a stimulus for a profound advanced training in this field.
